In 2004, heart disease was considered a man's disease. Never mind that it killed almost 500,000 women a year. But more than a decade after the American Heart Association founded Go Red for Women, the whole world has changed for mothers, sisters, and daughters worldwide. From defining the issue and raising awareness to engaging women to learn their personal risk and mobilizing them to take action, Go Red for Women has led the fight in making it easier for women and their families to lead healthier lifestyles.
I have teamed up with the Go Red for Women campaign because I want to bring awareness to the effects that heart disease has on women. As a woman living with heart disease, this cause is very near and dear to my heart. Every dollar raised is crucial in the fight against our nation's No. 1 and No. 5 killers - heart disease and stroke.
Any contribution you make would be fighting for research that has the potential to affect not only my future but that of our sisters, daughters and granddaughters. Please join me in supporting this great cause and thank you for your consideration of my request.
