Hello friends, family, and colleagues,
Welcome to 2019! February is HEART MONTH
Our priority this year is to focus on Staying Alive! We have recruited a new member to our team - Bailey. Bailey is focused on keeping hearts beating while pumping us up for this campaign!
Most of you are aware, my daughter Emily Harper-Guerra had an undetected cardiovascular condition that was diagnosed at the age of 18 years old. Prior to her diagnosis Emily was a physically fit teenager, playing two sports at the varsity high school level and then offered a scholarship to play ball in college. Heart disease can be silent and even athletes can be fooled by their own high performing bodies. Emily was diagnosed with Ventricular Tachycardia and has had several ablations to course correct her heart condition.
This changed the course of her life with delaying her college journey and seeking her dream to play ball. She now lives with a device in her chest that monitors and tracks the health of her heart. We are thankful for the technology that gives her freedom, clinicians who care for her heart and friends for the emotional support. But more importantly, Emily has learned about her heart condition and wants to share how to help others and provide support to her community. The AMA is a start for us to help educate women and athletes about heart disease. In addition, her sister Madisongrace is now taking an active role in helping educate high school students with a new Hands on CPR training Staying Alive! – which only take 10 minutes. Just this past year, a third grader saved his mom’s live in San Diego, as he had gone through the 10 minute Hands on CPR training in his classroom. Our vision is to continue to bring this to all high schoolers in San Diego.
Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women? Heart disease strikes one person every 42 seconds.
Please help us raise money for the 16th Annual San Diego Go Red For Women- American Heart association. To donate please use this link. https://ahasandiego.ejoinme.org/StayingAliveCeliaBailey
Best to each of you, and my wish is for you to have a happy and healthy heart! Pump us up!
Thank you
Celia, Emily, Madisongrace and Bailey
