Hello friends, family, and colleagues,
Welcome to 2017!
As I think about the year ahead of me and my family, the most important aspect for us is our health, love, and faith.
Most of you are aware, my daughter Emily Harper- Guerra had an undetected cardiovascular condition that was diagnosed at the age of 18 years old. Prior to her diagnosis Emily was a physically fit teenager, playing two sports at the varsity high school level and then offered a scholarship to play ball in college.
Heart disease can be silent and even athletes can be fooled by their own high performing bodies. Emily was diagnosed with Ventricular Tachycardia and has had several ablations to course correct her heart condition.
This changed the course of her life with delaying her college journey and seeking her dream to play ball. She now lives with a device in her chest that monitors and tracks the health of her heart. We are thankful for the technology that gives her freedom, clinicians who care for her heart and friends for the emotional support. But more importantly, Emily has learned about her heart condition and wants to share how to help others. The AMA is a start for us to help educate women and athletes about heart disease.
Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women? Heart disease strikes one person every 42 seconds.
Please help us raise money for the
14th Annual San Diego Go Red For Women- American Heart Association.
Best to each of you,
Celia Harper-Guerra
